About Us

We are a loving community of people who know what it is to share in each others lives, in the good and the bad times.  Our current pastors (Salvation Army Officers) are Majors MacDonald Chandi and his wife, Major Diana MacDonald who are in England for the next few years on secondment from The Salvation Army in Pakistan. We are all part of God’s family and we want you to become a part of that family, so that you too can know the love of God in your life.

Come along to our Sunday Worship or perhaps to one of our activities – we’d love to see you!

Our Meetings

We are a family Church that welcomes people of all ages and stages. Our Sunday Worship consists of singing a mix of traditional and modern songs, with brass band, piano, guitar, and percussion accompaniment. If you can’t sing – don’t worry you don’t have to! The services are family friendly involving the children through fun activities.  A positive message from God’s Word is shared followed by a time to chat over a cup of coffee! Our service commences at 10am with occasional afternoon activities, see the calendar for details. do come along and share with us!

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that the Bible was given to us by inspiration of God.
  • There is only one God, who is perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things.
  • There are three persons in God: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit.
  • In Jesus Christ the Divine and human natures are united, so that He is God and also man.

  • Our first parents (Adam & Eve) were created in a state of innocency, but by their disobedience, as a consequence, all of mankind has become sinners.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ has by His suffering and death taken the punishment on behalf of the whole world so that we may be saved.
  • Repentance toward God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation.
  • Salvation is a free gift from God – we can’t earn it through anything that we do, we do however need faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We must be obedient to God.
  • Eternal life, that God will one day give us new eternal bodies, in the judgement at the end of the world, in eternal happiness of those who love and obey Jesus, and in the punishment of the wicked.

Our History

The Salvation Army commenced in Chelmsford in 1886! The first meeting house was in Springfield Road and right from the start, a Brass Band was to be seen and heard! The Salvation Army later moved into premises on Moulsham Street, which today is still called “The Citadel” by the many retail businesses today. In 1974 a new site was bought on Parkway/Baddow Road and in 2009 the 35 year old building was knocked down and rebuilt. We now have a state of the art building that is used constantly during the week for many varied activities as well as Church on Sundays.
